The International Day for Monuments and Sites was created by the International Council for Monuments and Sites (ICOMOS) on April 18, 1982, and approved by UNESCO the following year, with the aim of sensitizing citizens to heritage diversity and the need to preserve it and recovery. In 2021, after a difficult year in all dimensions of our lives, the theme chosen was Complex Past: Diverse Futures.
Within the scope of these celebrations, the Museum of Mértola presents the work that it develops and that is not always visible and that gives us to know the object’s path until it reaches the Museum’s window. It is a specialized and complex work that results from the experienced hands of many stakeholders and that allow us to know the past and help to project the future. Visit us virtually at www.museudemertola.pt or in person in Mértola. We are ready to receive you!
