Activities of the Mértola Museum on International Museum Day

International Museum Day, celebrated annually on May 18, was created in 1977 by the
ICOM – International Council of Museums, with the objective of promoting to society,
a reflection on the role of museums in their development. In view of the mission

Operation of the museum nuclei of the Museum of Mértola between May 2 and June 30, 2021

Little by little and in complete safety, we are returning to normal. From the 2nd of May until the 30th of June, the opening hours of the museum centers of the Museum of Mértola operate from Tuesday to Saturday, from 9:15 am to 12:30 pm and from 2:00 pm to 5:15 pm, and on Sunday from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm (closed, Monday and Sunday afternoon). International Day for Monuments and Sites – 18 April 202

The International Day for Monuments and Sites was created by the International Council for Monuments and Sites (ICOMOS) on April 18, 1982, and approved by UNESCO the following year, with the aim of sensitizing citizens to heritage diversity and the need to preserve it and recovery. Temporary exhibition – “Las Artes del metal en al-Ándalus” – National Archaeological Museum (Madrid)

“During five hundred years, the Iberian Peninsula housed its Muslim civilization, which we call al-Ándalus. To it we make important contributions to our cultural heritage, understood in its broadest expression (monumental, artistic, linguistic, scientific).
