Over the past 4 decades, the work carried out in Mértola in favor of the preservation, valorization, and dissemination of cultural heritage has been very expressive in several publications, including the catalogs of the museum centers of the Museum of Mértola, some studies related to the collection and research work in the most diverse areas. Mértola Municipal Library

Since its inauguration in 1992, the Mértola Municipal Library has been part of the National Network of Public Libraries, forming part of the group of the first seven libraries supported by the then Instituto Português do Livro e das Bibliotecas, south of the Tejo river, when it started in 1987.

Campo Arqueológico de Mértola

Since its creation in 1978, the Mértola Archaeological Site has sought to develop multidisciplinary scientific research in the field of social and human sciences. In addition to a direct interest in History and Archeology, its working groups have also been devoting themselves to Local History, historical heritage, artistic and cultural heritage, Museology, and Physical Anthropology.
