Aladdin’s Chest is intended for students in grades 1 to 6, aged between 6 and 12, and explores the Islamic occupation of Mértola and the Iberian Peninsula using playful and pedagogical materials. The activities included in the Chest start with a visit to the museum units related to the Islamic period – the Igreja Matriz (Main Church – former mosque), the Alcáçova (Alcazaba) and the Núcleo de Arte Islâmica (Islamic Art Museum), where students are prompted to interact with the contents of the suitcase.
The Miner’s Suitcase is a playful and pedagogical instrument included in the Miner’s House Educational Programme, aimed at students from grades 1 to 9, which addresses the history of the S. Domingos Mine in a dynamic and interactive way. It is an educational support to prepare and support visits to the urban and industrial circuit.
