The first Textile Residence with the Cooperativa de Tecelagem de Mértola took place in 2022 as part of the Creative Wear + Project, co-financed by INTERREG MED, having as partners the Passa ao Futuro Association, the Arteria Lab of the University of Évora and the Museo del Tessuto di Plate (Italy). At the Project’s results presentation meeting, held in Prato (Italy) and at the opening of the exhibition of the resulting works, the weavers Helena Rosa and Fátima Mestre, the technicians of the Municipality Lígia Rafael and Margarida Rosário, the representative of Passa ao Future Fátima Durkee, among other partners from the Museo del Tessuto di Prato, the University of Évora, Bosnia, France and Italy.
This project was supported by the Municipality of Mértola with the aim of preserving and valuing the know-how of traditional weaving and the work developed by the Weaving Workshop. In this context, the results of this Residency are on display until the end of July at the Museo del Tessuto di Prato, as a way of publicizing and recognizing the importance and quality of the work developed.
