From 1st to 26th July, another archaeological excavation campaign took place on the slopes of Mértola Castle, involving two shifts of volunteers from various Portuguese and foreign universities. This is a partnership between the Archaeological Site of Mértola, the Municipality of Mértola and the Parish Council of Mértola, which aims to continue the interventions carried out in previous years. This further contributes to a greater knowledge of Mértola’s past in a context of learning and sharing experiences and knowledge.
With the aim of sharing the results of this and previous years, two guided tours will be held on the 10th and 11th August, led by the team of the Archaeological Site of Mértola, under the theme of ‘Discovering the Bathroom’.
