Preservation why? All communities seek to keep, protect and value elements that represent their collective memory, the memory shared by their members.
The museum is the place that brings together marks of this common past, such as objects and documents. Sometimes the museum is more than a place. It multiplies and appears in several nuclei, including protected areas, access roads, doors and ponds, walls, vegetable gardens and orchards. Community members see these sites as a reflection of their history and soul. They protect us and proudly present us to visitors. This, little by little, the Museum of Mértola.
