The article by Gon\u00e7alo Pereira Rosa, entitled &#8216;<span class=\"s1\"><i>Medieval M\u00e9rtola: the rural world a millennium ago<\/i><\/span>&#8216;, presents the findings from the excavation campaign conducted in May 2024 in Mesquita (Esp\u00edrito Santo\/M\u00e9rtola), as part of the IACAM Project, coordinated by Maria de F\u00e1tima Palma from the M\u00e9rtola Archaeological Field and Bilal Sarr from the University of Granada, with the support of the M\u00e9rtola City Council.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s2\">In Gon\u00e7alo Pereira&#8217;s words: &#8216;<\/span><i>M\u00e9rtola holds a golden place in the history of Portuguese archaeology as the site of some of the most significant discoveries of the 20th and 21st centuries. However, this time, the latest findings did not come from within the urban perimeter of the town but from the village of Mesquita.
